About the Artist

Kim Haines realized her love for drawing when she was in high school. She had an amazing art teacher that not only taught her well, but inspired her to continue on with her talent. Since then, Kim has experimented with several different mediums. However, she has done some of her best work with pencil portraitures, so that is where her artistic focus is now.

“I love watching people’s faces when they see a completed portrait of their loved ones for the first time,” says Kim. “I get great joy knowing that I was able to give them something so personalized and special, and that it will be with them for years to come." That is why Kim pursues her portraiture business. She first started out doing portraits to give as gifts to her own friends and family. Eventually people began approaching her to commission portraits to give as gifts of their own. She has been doing pencil portraitures for 22 years now and hopes to continue sharing her talent for many more years to come.

Kim is originally from the Midwest (Missouri and Illinois), but now resides in Longview, Texas with her husband, 3 year old son, and 1 year old daughter, as well as their dog and cat. She also has two older step-sons who reside in Illinois. The oldest is recently married and the other is completing his Engineering degree at Bradley University in Peoria. In addition to drawing, she is an avid couponer, and enjoys decorating, travel, and gardening.
